Know peace. Grow community. Love life.
Peace n Jam builds peace on purpose.
We are a Dundee community interest company practising peace within us, between us and among us. Music, movement, making and time in nature are how we get there. It is not peace-keeping and not an arts project: it is peace you can practise, and community wellbeing is the point.
That belief has a shape. We call it Positive Peace Practice.
Peace is a practice
Most of the time peace is treated as luck: the quiet you get when nothing is going wrong. We think that is backwards. Peace is a capacity, and like any capacity it grows with practice. Positive Peace Practice is proactive. We build peace deliberately, before it is needed, as a protective factor for everyday wellbeing.
That practice runs through everything we make. Music brings people into a room, movement and making keep them there, and nature gives the whole thing somewhere to breathe. Underneath sits contemplative action: doing something real while paying attention to your own peace inside it, whether that is a dance floor, a walk or a talk that turns into a rave. We draw on Christian contemplative practice, Buddhist thinking and plain humanistic sense-making, and we leave the jargon at the door.
It takes the shape of Peace n Move, Peace n Party, Peace n Be, Peace n Make, Peace o Yr Mind and Peace o Nature, and of Night School, where an artist-led talk becomes a rave. Different shapes, one intention: preventative public health you would actually choose to turn up to, especially if you are struggling, in recovery, or living with someone who is.

Four ways in
Music is the vehicle. Around it sit sound, writing and practice, each a different door into the same work.
Events
Sober discos, family dance floors and gatherings with the music in the middle. All vinyl, never mainstream, everyone welcome.
ExploreSound & Media
Mixes, recordings and film from very deep record boxes. Rare groove, dub and Chicago house, played the way it should be.
ExploreWriting & Ideas
Essays and notes on peace, music and being human. Reading that goes somewhere and respects your time.
ExploreExercises
Short contemplative practices to keep the peace going once the night is over. Small things you can actually do at home.

Educator first, DJ always
Peace n Jam was founded in July 2025 by Dominic Venditozzi, its founder and managing director. Before that he spent thirty years in education, the arts and community leadership: making curriculum, teaching Philosophy for Children, and building the kind of relational learning where people are met as people first.
He is also a DJ. As Lux Lucis Dj he plays all vinyl and never mainstream, part of a crew with more than sixty years on the decks between them, and he runs Dundee’s only sober disco. Rare groove, dub and Chicago house, with no compromise on the music and no need for a drink to enjoy it.
What he brings is the join between those two lives. Peace n Jam treats a dance floor the way a good teacher treats a classroom: a place where people are met with unconditional positive regard, learn something about themselves, and leave a little steadier than they arrived.

Dominic Venditozzi, founder and managing director.
“I have never wanted to lecture anyone into peace. I want us to practise it together, inside the music and the moving and the making, until it is a habit we get to keep.”
The threads through the work
These are the ideas underneath the nights, the writing and the practices. Not badges to collect, but ways we try to work.
- Mental health
- We build peace as a protective factor: the kind of steadiness you can lean on before things get hard, not only after.
- Philosophy
- Big questions, asked plainly. We take thinking seriously without hiding it behind clever words.
- Activism
- Peace is proactive. Building it on purpose, together, is itself a quiet kind of action.
- Community
- Everything happens in a room with other people. Connection is not a bonus, it is the method.
- Education
- Thirty years of teaching sits under all of it. Every gathering is a chance to learn something about being human.
- Food
- There is always a wee piece n jam, an actual jam sandwich, because being fed and being welcome are the same gesture.
- Contemporary practice
- We make new work, now, for the life people are actually living. Old wisdom, present tense.
The people in our corner
Peace n Jam does not work alone. These are the organisations backing the work, and what each one means to us.
- Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs
- Scotland’s national charity for families affected by alcohol and drugs, and part of why anyone in recovery, or living alongside it, is always welcome with us.
- Dundee Volunteer & Voluntary Action
- Dundee’s home for volunteering and voluntary action, and part of the groundwork that lets a community interest company like ours exist.
- The Maxwell Centre
- A Dundee community centre whose warmth and welcome helped Peace n Jam find its feet and grow.
